Guitar lessons: Chords

  What is a chord?

A chord is 2 or more notes played at the same time.
There is a chord for each note in the musical alphabet.

Depending on which notes are played together the chord will have a different name, thus we have major chords, minor chords, seventh chords, diminished chords power chords and many more.

The most important chords are major and minor which are the chords we’ll be playing in the next few lessons.

Listen to the difference between the different chords, which can be also related to moods, for example minor chords may sound sad and major chords happy.

Don’t worry if at first all the strings don’t play properly, with a bit of practice they’ll be sounding great!

Also note that some chords will seem easier to play than others.
