Guitar lessons: Notes on the open strings


  Lets start with the 1st string which is the thinnest string on the guitar and is the one closest to the floor when your holding the guitar.

Step 1. Play the 1st string without putting any fingers on the fretboard.
This note is an E note. Play the note again and listen to its sound.

Step 2. Play the 2nd string without putting any fingers on the fretboard.
This note is a B note. Play the note again and listen to its sound.

Step 3. Play the 3rd string without putting any fingers on the fretboard.
This note is a G note. Play the note again and listen to its sound.

Step 4. Play the 4th string without putting any fingers on the fretboard.
This note is a D note. Play the note again and listen to its sound.

Step 5. Play the 5th string without putting any fingers on the fretboard.
This note is an A note. Play the note again and listen to its sound.

Step 6. Play the 6th string without putting any fingers on the fretboard.
This note is also an E note. Play the note again and listen to its sound. Notice how its sound similar, but lower in pitch to the 1st string.
